Today’s powerful solar eclipse energies remind us that when discussing astrological events, looking at all aspects is important.

A new moon in Scorpio, conjunct Venus in Scorpio, near the South Node in Scorpio is a whole lot of energy in the sign of birth, death, and transformation.

In essence, today is about new beginnings related to past karma. The South Node can drain as as it triggers old karmic remembrances. So with a new moon here, we can consider a fresh perspective or new awareness of Scorpio South Node elements. Usually new moons signify a time to set new intentions, and today is no exception, but we have the backdrop of Venus conjunct the moon as well as the proximity of the South Node.

The Moon (ruling our emotions) in Scorpio is an intense configuration of feelings so deep and profound that it’s sometimes difficult to handle these energies. Add Venus, the sign of love, beauty, values, fairness money, and now you begin to understand the depth land complexity of this new moon.

The moon’s nodes come in pairs and represent our individual and collective Soul journey—what we are being asked to grow into, and what we are asked to release. We currently are going through a Nodal cycle of the Taurus North Node and the Scorpio South Node, which I wrote about earlier this year.

So, what is the best way to navigate through this time? Take a look at past karma related to the life cycle: birth, death and reincarnation, power struggles, control of self and others, intensity to the point of obsession, and using other people’s money (stock market, loans, and inheritances), and set an intention to do things differently…in a loving, fair, and beautiful way (Venus conjunct the new moon).

I find that sometimes it helps if I write down my intentions. It makes it feel more real, in a way. Remember that the moon reflects the light of the sun, hence providing for a chance to look in the mirror. What is our value system and our relationship to earned resources and money. What is our Self-Worth. Do we only feel worthy when we have money? There are many ways that this eclipse will affect you, but if you have planets in the sign of Scorpio or if Scorpio is the sign on one of the angular houses, this will definitely impact you more.

I have spoken to several people in the last few days who describe feeling fatigued and emotional. As a Scorpio sun sign, with Mercury and Neptune in Scorpio, I can vouch for the feeling of fatigue. Especially since the South Node in Scorpio is exactly conjunct my own Sun, I am definitely feeling drained.

My advice, which I am giving to myself, is that during this period of time self-care is important. Release the past related to drama, trauma and power struggles. I’m incorporating the loving Venusian energy to help. In letting go of the past, we can make room for new beginnings.
